A little bit about me

Hey! I'm Krishan Karia, a bright-eyed and motivated, business student on the path to a career in finance. I was born and grew up just outside of Toronto, in Mississauga Ontario. My background in Business Administration and Economics has given me numerous opportunities to hone a broad range of skills. While my experience in the Canadian Armed Forces (Army Reserves) has taught me to develop a growth mindset and relentless work ethic. I strive to approach problems with various perspectives in order to further understand the complexity of the Capital Markets and Investor Psychology. Regardless, I believe the best investment one can make is in themselves. This fuels my goal to constantly be learning new things whether it is reading daily, meeting people, and taking advantage of new opportunities. My passion for entrepreneurship and leading teams, together with my innate curiosity, helps me challenge the status quo and thrive as a unique asset to any environment. I would be a valuable addition to any dynamic and fast-paced team that is looking for an out-of-the-box thinker and team-oriented leader. So scroll down, look around, and get to know me. I hope the experience encourages you to live on the other side of fear, as I strive to do every day.

The Capital Cave Podcast

Hosting my own content platform had been a vision of mine for a while before starting The Capital Cave. I love to talk, especially when it's something I'm passionate about and I found this to be the same among hard working professionals. I am not afraid to learn new skills such as audio editing, content marketing, and graphic design when it means making my ideas come to reality. So if you want to know more about me and what's on my mind give it a listen.

Co-Founder – YouthFit

In 2017, I ventured to start my own business, YouthFit. With a passion for health and fitness, and my CanFitPro Personal Training Certification I embarked on a journey to help students in my community achieve their personal fitness goals to improve their mental and physical health. We pride ourselves on YouthFit’s resilience and ability to adapt to changing environments, such as our continued operation during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing free home workout plans to students across Ontario.

MSE Op - Canadian Army Reserves.

Joining the Army Reserves was a difficult decision for me and my family at the time. Especially since COVID-19 made my application process take 18 months, allowing the suspense to build. However, after a few months of service I knew this was the best environment for me to toughen my mind and work on my weaknesses. Although my job as a Mobile Support Equiment Operator primarily entailed driving, over 80% of what I learned had more to do with mindset, character, and morals that will stick with me for life. In short, the army made me work harder than I ever had in my life, and I figured if I was working that hard for them, I must work even harder on my personal goals.

  • Problem Solving

The world is filled with problems, many of which can be solved with information from the internet. The Capital Cave Podcast is my way of contributing the most important lessons I've learned to this global library.

  • Innovation

With technology and the internet expanding the possibilities for personal branding, I attempted to redefine the resume with Humble Co. by creating personal websites for students to tell their story.

  • Adaptive

The business landscape is an everchanging environment that requires a certain mindset to succeed. My ability to reposition YouthFit to deliver online fitness plans during the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated my ingenuity and adaptivity.

  • Personal Growth

Initiated by my time in the army, my journey towards a growth mindset begins with several "Atomic Habits" directed towards acheiving personal goals, and implementing the power of passion and perserverance outlined in "Grit" by Angela Duckworth.

  • Giving Back

My commitment to the charity, Aim for Seva, provided me with the opportunity to go on a service trip to India in 2018. I visited schools I helped fundraise for, and spent time with the children impacted. This was an extraordinary, humbling experience that still has an impression on me today.

  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

Completing the CSC Certification at 17 years old, in 2020, broadened my perspective of the Capital Markets and reassured me of my decision to pursue a career in finance.
